The Center for Asia Pacific Studies welcomes Dr. Anita Huang for an engaging introduction to food and health through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In TCM, food is understood not simply as nourishment, but as a way to support the body’s balance and well-being. Dr. Huang will explore how foods are understood through their five flavors — sour, bitter, sweet, pungent, and salty — and their thermal nature, from hot and warm to neutral, cool, and cold. She will also discuss how food choices can be tailored to an individual’s constitution, symptoms, and the changing seasons. Join us to discover a different way of thinking about the foods we eat and their role in supporting health and balance. All USF community members are welcome.
About the Center for Asia Pacific Studies
Since its founding in 1988, the Center for Asia Pacific Studies has bridged the Pacific with programs that spark conversation and promote teaching and research on the peoples and cultures of the Asia Pacific region. Each semester, the center organizes events and facilitates people-to-people exchanges on topics important for our understanding of the Asia Pacific region both historically and today.
