Hong Kong Films in Focus Series: The Last Dance (2024) Screening

Fromm Hall, Xavier Conference Room
Join the Center for Asia Pacific Studies for the inaugural screening of our Hong Kong Films in Focus Series 香港光影系列, featuring The Last Dance (2024), Anselm Chan’s acclaimed drama and Hong Kong’s highest-grossing domestic film of all time.
After his wedding-planning business collapses, a charismatic planner finds himself starting over in Hong Kong’s traditional funeral industry. There, an unexpected partnership with a Taoist priest brings together two very different worlds, gradually revealing shared reflections on love, loss, family, and renewal.
The Hong Kong Films in Focus Series 香港光影系列 is presented in collaboration with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco. The series offers an opportunity to experience landmark contemporary Hong Kong films while exploring how cinema captures the city’s distinctive culture, humor, relationships, and everyday life.
