Salo Salo A FAHM Celebration with the Asian Pacific Alumni Network

October 11, 2026
11:00 AM-1:00 PM

The Laughing Monk

1785 Fulton Street
SF, CA 94117

Celebrate Filipinx American History Month with the USF Asian Pacific Alumni Network at Salo-Salo, a special community gathering centered around food, culture, and connection.

Join fellow Dons for a traditional kamayan feast at Laughing Monk Brewing as we come together to celebrate Filipino American culture, history, and community. Kamayan, meaning "by hand," is a Filipino style of communal dining where a shared feast is enjoyed together without utensils.

Come hungry and ready to connect, celebrate, and enjoy a memorable meal with the USF community.

Space is limited and advance registration is required.

Kamayan at Laughing Monk

Kamayan is a traditional Filipino style of communal dining where food is served family-style on banana leaves and enjoyed by hand. Laughing Monk Brewing, USF’s neighborhood bar, brings this tradition to life with Filipino cuisine by Chef Reina Montenegro, featuring both vegan and non-vegan dishes that celebrate her plant-forward cooking and Filipino roots. Your admission includes the Kamayan feast and your choice of beverage.

Celebrating  Filipino American History Month

Filipino American History Month is celebrated each October in recognition of the history, culture, contributions, and experiences of Filipino Americans in the United States. It is a time to honor the generations who came before us, celebrate the richness of Filipino American culture, and strengthen connections across our communities.
